David Allen knocks out Johnny Fisher at the end of the 5th round, perfectly timing a left hook whilst Fisher’s guard was low, after hurting him earlier in the round.
Fisher started off this fight staying at range, working the jab, and not working the body until rounds 3/4. Allen was walking down Fisher constantly with a high-guard, not utilising a wide punch selection or a jab, but was working hooks to the body, and looking for the overhand right from the first round.
Fisher was getting the rounds in and appeared to be boxing better than he did in the first fight, pacing himself better and not looking to get an early stoppage, however, he didn’t work body shots straight away, and didn’t appear very confident in his work.
Fisher was pawing with his lead hand, which presented opportunities for Allen, and Allen undoubtedly had noticed this.
Fisher had made a couple of mistakes in either round 3 or 4, staying in the pocket and taking a shot he didn’t need to take whilst lowering his guard, and also punched Allen on the break, which was rightfully called out.
Allen’s trunks were also dropping lower than his groin-guard, which appeared to confuse Fisher on where the legal area for body shots were.
Going Ahead
Where do either fighter go from here, well, Allen could potentially fight opponents such as Vianello, Gassiev, Efe Ajagba, Otto Wallin, and Jermaine Franklin etc.
As for Fisher, Fisher will likely need to rebuild by fighting low-level opposition for the time being, but I cannot personally recommend any names.
This was a devastating defeat, and the pattern from the previous fight appeared to continue, Fisher’s defence is leaky, and his conditioning also look likes it’s a problem, so he will need to resolve these going ahead if he wants to climb up the ladder again.
