Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou has been announced! The fight should take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the 8th of March.
The press conference is due to take place on the 15th of January.
There has been some controversy generated from the announcement; namely, why hasn’t a fight between Hrgovic, or Zhang been scheduled?
Hrgovic is the current mandatory challenger for the IBF title, this was also the first world-title that Joshua had held, after defeating Charles Martin in April 2016.
Froch has provided his opinion on the announcement, he has stated that it is a cash-grab; personally, I concur.
You may watch Froch’s video below:
The fight will be a money-fight, as such was the case with Fury and Ngannou, when they fought last year on the 28th of October.
Joshua has the opportunity to embarrass Fury, should he defeat Ngannou in spectacular fashion.
The fight card is building up, it has been rumoured that Wilder will be on the card, and could be fighting Zhang.
Wilder vs Zhang will be a fascinating fight, both are old in boxing terms, but can punch hard, and possess both great height and reach.
Will Wilder’s athleticism come into play, or will Zhang’s fast jabs-and-crosses, with his tight guard and southpaw stance, simply be too much for Wilder?
I don’t know who will be broadcasting this fight at this time, but it’s likely the UK broadcast will be provided by DAZN, if not Sky Sports.
Finally, I think Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou will be a fascinating contest, and will take place just a few weeks after Usyk vs Fury.
My prediction for this fight, is that Joshua gets a TKO victory, I think it’s likely that it will occur later in the fight.
