Canelo Alvarez wins by a land-slide points, in a hard-fought contest which saw John Ryder bloodied from the second from a blisteringly-fast and powerful right-cross from Alvarez.
Alvarez dominated the fight in the first half, Ryder had success in the latter stages of the fight, especially with his left-uppercuts, which were finding their way through Canelo’s defences more as the fight went on.
Ryder was dropped twice, in despite of this, Ryder soldiered on and showed great heart as he chose to continue the fight despite sustaining a broken nose from the second round.
Ryder was not as elusive in this match-up, this made him more vulnerable to Canelo’s head attacks, who was able to land repeat right hands; Ryder also was not able to successfully slip or evade Canelo’s jabs, which helped Canelo establish his power-punches.
