Filip Hrgovic will be fighting Demsey McKean on the Anthony Joshua vs Whyte undercard, scheduled for 12-rounds on the 12th August.
Firstly, I would like to start by pointing out that Demsey McKean has no amateur pedigree; he begun his fighting career in MMA at 19 years-of-age.
McKean then transitioned into boxing eventually thereafter, and currently has a record of 22(14)-0-0.
Hrgovic’s last outing went the distance against Zhilei Zhang, both were accomplished amateurs with multiple accolades.
Some examples of Zhang’s accolades include: Silver at the Olympics hosted in Beijing (2008), two bronze medals from the world championships, gold at the Asian games.
Hrgovic’s accolades include: bronze at the Olympics (2016), gold at the European championships, gold at the AIBA youth championships.
McKean is a southpaw, and is currently ranked #54 according to BoxRec, his last opponent was Patrick Korte (19-(16)-3(3)-0) who is currently ranked #222.
Hrgovic has won 80% of his fights by TKO/KO, and has fought at a much higher-level than Demsey McKean.
Going the distance with Zhang is no small-feat; personally, I had thought the fight would end within the scheduled distance.
Finally, I expect Filip Hrgovic to win by TKO/KO over 6-rounds; he’s the bigger puncher, has more boxing experience, and has fought at a higher-level.
