Isaac Chamberlain defeats Mikael Lawal in a lackadaisical affair at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, London, as Lawal was indolent.
Lawal had not committed to the fight, making only a minor effort, and allowing Chamberlain to simply outwork him.
Chamberlain was confident in his occasional aggressive out-bursts, but wasn’t able to hurt Lawal.
Lawal relied mostly on the occasional over-hand right, in which he also had little success.
I think most people expected an intriguing contest; instead, the fight itself was far short of a spectacle, a lackadaisical showing.
It is also worth noting, that the match between Chamberlain and Lawrence Okolie, was also a dull competition.
Finally, there are rumours that a fight could circulate between Isaac Chamberlain and Cheavon Clarke.
In theory, this fight will offer more entertainment value, but I cannot speak with certainty.
Chamberlain is currently ranked #10 with the WBA, just behind Jordan Thompson, who was thoroughly dominated by Jai Opetaia.
This performance would not have helped to setup a match against Chris Billam-Smith, or any other cruiserweight world-champion.
This was the second pick featured in a tweet, both boxers selected has won by decision (Jack Catterall delivered a shut-out win against Jorge Linares).
